Most likely from UK or Europe...or Australia. Or New Zealand.

I've seen a few Euro-bumper cars in the US. You might get lucky and find used ones if you really search the bone yards.

To clarify, though, you realize that even the Euro bumpers have the big rubber pad, right? Same basic appearance its just the the rubber pad sticks out only about 1" rather than 4".

Something I always wanted to try but never did is the simply drill holes into the impact absorbers and compress them all the way inward. That would give about the same appearance as the Euro bumper.

Cheers

Hi Walter

Here is a photo of the bumper that Doug is speaking of. This is an 85 XJ6 Sovereign, Grey Market car. You'll notice the bumpers are very similar to your US spec car.

Were you referring to the Chrome bumpers used on the Series 2 cars in the UK?

Please tell me those leaping cat badges aren't on backwards. It kinda looks like it from the picture.

And yes Walter, those are Jaguar wheels named "Pepperpots", Canada and ROW option.

And yes, if you noticed, those are the euro 7' low beam headlamps. If you can find them from a parts car, they were even equipped with a cool little wiper blade and motor.

You're exactly right, those emblems are on the wrong sides. That car had been offered to me to purchase, and the emblems are one of the reasons I had to turn it down.
Also on the Sovereign models are the rear fog lights, higher compression engine, locking rear end, model specific rear seat (not VDP), model specific door panels, etc. It was really a nice and unusual car, but end the end I couldn't quite stomach the asking price.

Jose,
I think he may have been asking about the Series 2 Euro version bumpers. Here is a photo of an image from JagLovers.
Yep, I'm still plugging away at parting cars in my spare time. Can't seem to function correctly without a little old English grease under my nails!

Man those chrome series 2 in that last picture sure are nice. So are the series 1, but it takes some fabrication as I understand. I do have the chrome surrounds for the 7 inch lights, but need the other inside pieces to make it work. I hae 7 inch buckets from another British sports car, again some fabrication is in order. I would love to get away from all the black rubber my series 3 has in the bumpers.............

Wow thank you very moch Jose, that is an incredible site. I am going to buy the Steering Rack Bushings. My front end feel is a little spacey. I think the site has good products, but I want to keep mine Jaguar powered. I spent the last hour or so reading what the guy does and it is pretty impressive.

if that's all you're going to order for the front end, compare the price of the Rack Poly Bushing kit at Jaguar Specialties with the price at John's Cars. John invented the poly bushing rack kit and everybody copied it. I installed the kit from John's Cars in my car. it is a thorough and complete kit and comes with detailed instructions. Some of these copy kits come without needed spacers or without a special shield bracket to protect the red polybushings on one side of the rack. John's kit includes all that.

http://www.johnscars.com

getJohn's phone number at the website and callfor the price, the kit is not shown in the website.

HI Walter

I agree with Jose that Andrew at Jaguar Specialists is a great guy.

The new kits that he sells are a great alternative when you can't find the other parts.
If you have the trim rings, and the buckets, you're most of the way there. There are a couple of retaining rings that hold the lamp in place, and that's about it. If you got the entire setup from another English car, you should have all that you need.
There really isn't any fabrication needed, other than the clips that hold the trim rings in place at the bottom. You can make those from the clips on your current set. It's as simple as clipping them from the old bucket, clipping them in two, and drilling a hole in the top near the edge. I have some photos to clarify if you'd like.

The setup on one of my cars is made from the Jaguar trim rings (7"), and the buckets and other innards from a Fiat. Didn't have to change a thing.

The biggest difference in the new kits offered is a protrusion on the trim ring (kind of a teardrop). My understanding, which may be wrong, is that those are replicas of the trim rings for the cars with wipers. Looks a tiny bit out of place on cars with out wipers, though a friend has them on his Concours car with no objections.

David,

Jaguar XJ6 Fuse Panel Cover - Headlamp fuses- 1979-1987 is this the fuse box on the drivers side that holds headlight fuse? I had intermittent headlight operation untill changing fuses on the driver side under the bonnet.

David,

I have the trim rings (from ebay Untied Kingdom) and 7 inch buckets from another british car, again an ebay auction. I do need the chrome rings that hold the lamp in place, and also have to put the 7 inch buckets in. I just figured the screw holes and tabs would be off since the buckets arent Jag. Id love some clarification pictures, thank you very much.

Hi Walter,

I've tried different buckets from MGs, Triumphs, and Fiat, and never had trouble getting the buckets to line up.
Here are some photos. Not quite as detailed actually putting the buckets in place, but geared more for the fit of the retaining clips that hold the ring in place.
In photo #2 you'll see the Jaguar Euro version on one side, and the one that you make with what you have already on the other. The ones you make do hold the ring a bit more snuggly at the bottom, but has no negative effects.
You can see the fit in photo #1. The lamp is down just a bit at the top, not visable unless you are on your knees looking up at the car.

In the parts manual, you can see the correct clip by Jaguar. (My photo headlights 2) Those are tough to find unless you get a complete setup from a Euro car. The ones you can easily adapt from your car are just as good.

In the previous post if you were wondering if I had the cover for the headlamp fuses, I do. Out of respect for the forum I won't discuss details other than they are only a couple bucks. You can email me onlist or from my webpage and I'll be glad to get it out to you.
Sometimes with that fuse panel all you need to do is clean the fuse contacts, and tighten them a bit.

Thanks
David
