That figure seems off a bit. More fodder for discussion...

No one here is in the same class as "Most drivers!" Xj6 Series drivers are far more sensitive to the workings of their car than the average driver.

Few of us have access to equipment that will do that. I certainly don't.
I DO know my car runs better and gets better fuel economy (18+mpg with CAI vs 13mpg [CORRECTION: 16mpg!] before CAI with no other changes), has quicker acceleration, better response and just plain Feels better.

The science is interesting, but I'm neither equipped nor inclined to do so I'm afraid.

I will be more interested in how the car "talks" to me. As I said, this won't be my first foray into CAI, I've experienced a sweeter running engine with this mod in the past, therefore I'm keen to have a go with this one. Any minor gains in smoother idling, lift off acceleration, fuel economy etc. etc. will be welcome, but to keep all this in context, I'm not naive enough to expect a magical transformation in performance simply from fitting a CAI costing only a few bucks.

No fancy or expensive equipment is required. A wireless remote thermometer normally used for BBQ, smoking, grilling, roasting etc. is perfectly adequate. About $20.

That's a good approach. Not realizing a 50%+ increase in fuel economy won't be a big surprise then.
