Default Cooling system volume

hi,
does anyone know what the total volume of liquid that the cooling system holds? I am working my way through a flush on the cooling system but can not find the drain on the block. When I drain at the bottom of the radiator I get about 8 liters out.

Many thanks. I will need to find the drain plug on the block as I am obviously only draining half of it or so.

Just aft of the engine dipstick tube.

Some have a Brass tap (its a British thing), most have a plug, and if you drop it, its the same as the sump plug on a S2. That is 1/2" NF.

Got it. Still with everything opened only about 10-11 litres came out. Getting lots of junk out though which is good.

run the engine filling the system with water from a garden hose inserted in the expansion tank adding Prestone Super Flush, with the Heater ON at 85, run for 20 minutes, drain when cooled, do it again a second time, always keeping the Heater ON so the Heater Matrix gets cleaned too.

Drain the system, close all exits, and start filling with a 60/40 mix of Prestone Concentrate, (6 qts. coolant added to 4 qts. water), Heater ON all the time, run the engine until warmed up to NORMAL, expansion tank Cap off to bleed any air bubbles, keep adding mix. It's a messy job, keep the garden hose near.

After a full flush of the system my 4.2 takes just shy of 17.5 litres. Never got the full 18 recommended in any of the 3 times.
The two last times i drained it I got about 17.5 out.

save the .5 pint, you'll need it in a few days.
