Dash Lights

Dash Lights
The other night as I was taking the series 1 out none of the dash lights came on. Speedo, tacho and all other gauges all in the dark. (they had all been very dim for a very long time. Everything else seemed to be working OK.
I consulted the manual but can find no reference to any specific fuse in the fuse block that would cause all lights to cease working. Someone I spoke to did mention an inline fuse somewhere but there is no reference that I can find in the manual.
Any suggestions most gratefully received.

Keep in mind that my Jag is an '87 series III. The fuse for the panel lights is under the drivers side fuse door (LH drive). Remove the door, the fuses are 1 thru 12 from left to right.
The fuse for panel illumination (again, 1987 series III) is number 8, and is a 15 amp.
Here's the full panel list for the drivers side fuse box:
1) Fog lamps - 20A
2) Hazard warning, Seatbelt, Logic unit - 15A
3) Map & interior lamps, clock, ariel- 15A
4) Panel instruments, Reverse lamps, Low coolant sensor & warning ligt - 15A
5) Heated backlight - 35A
6) Wipers - 35A
7) Trip computer - 2A (note- This also is for all of your guages. If they all stop, change this fuse)
8) Panel/ cigar & glovebox illumination - 15A
9) Fog rear guards - 10A
10) D.I Flashers (turnsignals) - 15A
11) Horn relay (windings), auto trans (K/down sol) Aux rad. Fan relay (WDG), screen washers, stop lamps S.I.C - 35A
12) Speed control - 2A
I've typed these just as they appear on my fuse panel door. I assume the "windings" and WDG in #11 are somehow related to the windows(?)
I hope this helps
