Default Decal at A-pillar behind door

Hello Catpeople,

My cat is resprayed by a previous owner...the decal with all codes(colour, interior trim, check codes etc.) behind the drivers door at the A pillar is no further readable...nice white from the thinner.....

Where to buy a reproduction decal with all codes ?

I'm not aware of anyone making those decals but others might chime in with better news.

Not sure about ROW cars but on my USA market Ser III that decal also carried the VIN number. For legal reasons there might be some difficulties in getting a new one made.

Cheers

This is a "modern" european decal with the check codes and the E-classification codes

a bit old fashioned in black/silver exist for the "older" XJ -Series 1 and 2 with

paint codes, trim code, VIN, shorthand symbol code for specification, classification of engine, etc.....

Unless there is enforced regulation that such labels be kept intact and fully legible I can't imagine much consumer demand for them....and therfore little chance of finding a vendor who offers them.

I suspect you'll have to find a graphics company who will make one up for you.....for a price.

Let's hear what others have to say. I could be totally wrong.

Cheers

Just musing:

Modern Ink jet and laser printers are so versatile. If one gets the data and figures out the font or something close, then it can be printed.

So, next, decal material?? It does come with a backing in all liklihood. So, get some from the grapics shop? A friendly small place might, and some might just not be so willing.

So, shelt type contact paper comes to mind.

Not clear on how to get the printer to accept it through the feed. But, as they accpt photo paper which has similar stiff/thickness, it might work!!!

A lister on another forum made a lens for my "Check engine" light usig a clear to print on. Looks factory!!! Even impressed the SMOG referee.

Default label material

I work for a graphics company....and do this sort of thing all the time. They make adhesive back clear film in cut stock that is made to run through laser printers. The problem is that the color tends to fade over time...especially if exposed to the sunlight. In a protected area it will last for quite some time. I overspray the material with a clear laquer after the fact and it seems to hold up quite well. You can print several on a sheet so if/when it deteriorates..simply replace it with another.
