Dim new headlight

1983 XJ6 4.2 I replaced the (2) low and (2) high beam headlights and the right outside head light is dim although new. Any thoughts?

I'd first start checking any and all ground wires that may affect that light. maybe came loose, undone, is corroded. That would be my guess, assuming the new light is ok.

first try reinstalling the old lamp again to see if the new one is bad.

check the low beam fuse

X2 on a bad ground. One dim headlamp is 99% of the time a ground issue
