Default Ditched the Dizzy

Just finished up a Northstar derived distributor-less ignition system for my SBC lump.

I ditched the dizzy and got the Northstar coil pack to run off the GM 1227730 ECM.

I'm am very impressed with the additional smoothness of the engine, even with a very high lift roller camshaft the idle is much more consistent and smoother. Just a slight and consistent lope.

While I was bench testing this and developing it the energy of the Northstar DIS became clear when I observed a bright blue spark jump 2 inchs in bright lights.

This is the Magic of GM stuff...I've got an early 70's block, with new CNC heads, 80's Aftermarket performance Intake, 90's ECM and Late 90's Cadillac ignition, 00's Volvo EV6 injectors, Modern LS derived performance lifters and it all works together.

Am I impressed? No question about it. Excellent adaptation !!! And super sanitary.

My LT1 lump pales in comparison. But, I got it to do what it should. Runs great.

I opted not to hide the finned alloy housing of my PCM and suspended it from the
wing braces.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Carl
