I'm trying to figure out how to take the mast itself apart (Series III 1984) meaning I want to separate the segments because I have a slight bend in one and I think it is causing my motor to labor and blow a fuse. If I can get the segments apart I may be able to roll the slighly bent one flat again.

 

What you're proposing should not be undertaken lightly ! These aerials are awfully fiddly to dismantle. Basically you have to take the bottom part apart so you can get to the roller that takes the flexible cable that pushes up the aerial. This is connected permanently at the top piece of the aerial, so you have to get the bottom end loosed off, at which point you can pul the whole array of segments apart.

Then having done your fix, you have to assemble it all !! This is the difficult part.
