Early XJ6 S2 VIN question
Hi, I'm looking at buying a project, and checking the VIN I was surprised to find it was only 9 digits, 1G5xxxxDN. I did find one car like it auctioned off with same VIN length and structure. Does anybody know if year can be found by the VIN number, and what the last DN mean? I'd rather not spend the money at Jaguar Heritage if I don't end up buying.
According to Nigel Thorley's book, a VIN starting with 1G is a series 1 2.8 Litre.
The Vin suffix is usually in reference to the gearbox. BW is Borg Warner for example. I don't know what DN is; perhaps a manual gear change?
