Default Ebay Score

I found these on ebay for a reasonable price and couldn't pass them up. I guess I have another project to add to the list once I gather the other parts.

If these are 7", you can still get the steel buckets from:

Ya, I was checking those out. Probably the way I'll go.

I’m not sure there is a single thing you can do to these cars to change them from “not quite right” to “damn that looks better” than changing the mandated 5” lamps for the proper 7” ones.

Baudrate, I don't see a pic or a link to anything in your first post. From the other posts it looks like you scored a pair of 7in rings, I'm pretty sure I passed on those last week as my car is converted, but it was still tempting.

Default Great score.....

Well done- those are almost impossible to find in good used shape any more. I would know- for years we sold the Euro 7" headlight conversion kits until production of the trim rings ended (maybe 10 years ago). I looked everywhere for NOS or other pieces- not much out there besides really corroded used parts, mostly from the UK. A chance interaction with a customer who also had overseas casting connections led to us (Jaguar Specialties) beginning to reproduce the 7" European rings, exactly as original. Now, after being unavailable for years, this is a kit (trim rings, headlight buckets, hardware, etc.,.) we offer as a regular item.

Everyone will agree this upgrade is fantastic for these models....

For informational purposes only, here's a pic of an original ring next to one of our repros (new one on the right ...)....

Many thanks for taking on this project. The parts are excellent. The 3D printed finish is far better than I expected. As far as the bit of work to make room for the sensor...about 20 minutes or so per part. The fellow said he wanted to be as exact as the designer of the part was. They look great.....now to replace the water pump on the 2001. If the fellow that did the 3D printing is looking for more work, please forward my contact info or share his..if he doesn't mind.

Take care and enjoy San Diego.

Andrew that is incredible! It looks perfect, is it die cast and chrome? Amazing reproduction.

I prefer my 5's.... personal preference I reckon. I don't like the LED style lamps either....it ruins a classic imo

You do know that the larger lamps were the original design for the three XJ series cars? It was US regulations that required both lamps to be of the same size.

I did not know that..... love learning though so Thanks. I know I like the orig OEM lights in my '85 versus bigger lights, LED lights or even those yellow inner lights..... It's all whatever you like..... I mean I don't hate it (the bigger ones)....they just look funny to me....kinda like when my wife wearing glasses in the morning before she puts her contacts in.....the way I most often see her (36 years now lol)..... 😉
