Fitting exhaust over rear end
I have been unable to work on my Jag for a few months due to a hand injury.
Now getting back to it I am having great difficulty fitting up the exhaust system over the rear end. I know that it fits as it is the same system I took off earlier in the year!
I may have mixed up the exhaust hangers (pictured), I there any way of telling which is a right hand hanger and which a left? Which is the one in the photo?
The clearance just seem too tight to be correct, missing the shafts and brake calipers by millimetres.
Any tips on installing these systems?

Thank you Clarke,
Clearly you have documented your rebuild a lot better than I have!
Now to try to get this system in. I think I will leave the hangers loose on the subframe for assembly, and tighten once all in place.
Nice car you have there.

you mean the over-the-axle pipes? if yes, here's how I did mine:
Install one of the rear resonators, keep it level by using whatever is needed to level it, I used a box and started adding magazines until it was level by eye;
do the same with the rear muffler, the one ahead of the rear axle; level it more or less until level.
now take one of the pipes and start to fit it until you find the sweet spot where everything matches. If nothing matches or aligns, turn the pipe around and try again. If that doesn't do it either, then try it with the other pipe.
I had the same problem when I sent my pipes to Jet-Hot coatings, when they came back I had forgotten which was which, but I found the logic eventually.
By the way, the car needs to be "laden", meaning that the car needs to be sitting normally as it sits on the ground.
I put all 4 tires on concrete blocks to raise it enough to slide underneath in a cart.

Agree, the "fit all loose, adjust, then tighten" technique has worked for me. On other critters, not the Jaguar. The PO welded all the joints aft of the mufflers. But, fitted well, so far OK.

Thanks Carl, Jose and Clarke,
Installed the exhaust today and everything went well. I had the tail mufflers sitting in their positions, put the curved pipe into the slot and then fitted the correct hanger. Not easy to get the hanger blot+nut in, but did it.
All fits well now. I have the series2 mid pipe as it is much better than the mess that makes up the original series 1 pipe.
