Default Fuel leaking from under car

Hi all,

First post in this section. I have a 1975 XJ Coupe, it’s my father’s car who has owned since 1980 and has been laid up the last 3/4 years I think.

Battery was totally dead, an overnight charge got some lights on the dash but not enough to turn her over so guess I firstly need a new battery but upon cranking her (and given the choke a couple of pulls) I had fuel leaking from the rear of the engine onto the floor.

I would assume this is really not a good sign but before I get her towed to my local specialist I thought I’d put a post here to see if anyone has had the same at all and if it’s a simple fix or a sign of something serious.

I’m hoping to get the car up and running and back on the road this summer. She’s an absolute beauty and I’ll post some pics at some point. Lavender with vinyl roof, wolf race wheels and totally original. Thanks

First thing, ALL the fuel hoses will need changed. That's what I would suspect first.
Then, as you say, new battery.

I wish you success.
