finally pulled the trigger on a new 20 gallon aluminum fuel cell for my 82 xj6, so I can just forget about the rusty, leaking gas tanks that have taken many fuel pumps lives. I need to know where the factory return line is, and the sending unit wiring so I can have a working fuel gauge for once. all help is appreciated. I'll post pics when I've got this all plumbed in

 

The fuel return comes from the left side of the engine bay and terminates in the boot above the fuel filter. I can't recall if it's the smaller (1/4") of the two that are there, someone else with a better memory will have to comment. The wiring and sending units can be accessed by removing the taillight housings.

 

Found the sending unit wiring, thanks. I thought the return lines went to the tank? If its the line above fuel filter, that just plumbs back into the fuel line going to the motor

 

Anyone have a definite answer on where the return line is on my 82? Been searching for awhile but can't really find anything

 

Got everything ready to go but need to hookup return line. Anyone help?
