Default Fuel pump

Today for the first time my fuel pump started making lots of noise. While I was driving I assumed the electric engine fan had come on but when I got home I realized it was coming from the fuel pump in the trunk. Pump going or something stuck in it? No noticeable performance change. 1979 xj6
Thx

Sounds like the pump is knackered, but it could have got some crud in it. Only way is to remove it, clean, and replace. I'm assuming it is a Series 2 carburettor car, true ?

If it's that loud it's 'probably' on it's last legs. But, I've said that before about noisy pumps and been wrong.

I like Fraser's idea about cleaning it and seeing what happens. Can't hurt, might help, won't cost anything

Cheers

Default Pump

Thanks. I ordered a new pump as a backup but all seems fine last few drives.
