Default Fuel system after 20 years in storage

So we drained and flushed brown sludge from both XJ6 fuel tanks. There don't seem to be any holes in the tanks, so thinking I'll just use some muriatic acid solution to remove rust, then reinstall the tanks. Anyone have recommendations on if the tanks will need anything else? I hate to use a tank restoration/liner, as I have had some separate from the tank over time.

Opinions and experiences vary, obviously.

In my neck o's the woods there's a radiator shop that does some gas tank cleaning and repair for me. I presume they use the same cleaning process as used on radiators....I never actually asked. But it's reasonable and the tanks always come back clean as a whistle.

They don't do leak repairs, however.

Anyhow, you might do some calling around. Since gas tank removal/reinstallation isn't an 5 minute things on these cars I wouldn't want to reinstall the tanks unless I knew they were really, really clean.

Cheers
