a) what could have caused this
b) can I remove the tumbler without turning the key to see whats up?

Have you tried jiggling the steering wheel?

Talking I....am a moron....

I, being of sound mind and body, do hereby admit that I....am a moron.

Seeing how the ignition switch is on the dashboard, my teenage years being through the 1970's, I was under the impression that my first jaguar did not have a locking steering column.

It was while at work, and after I wrote my initial post, that the memory popped into my head that while working on my turn signal switch that there was a "tube" going off towards the ignition from the steering column.

I thought "could it?...maybe..." I came home, turned the steering wheel, sure enough, locked. I put the key in, turned the wheel a little, and the key turned.

Thoughts of selling the car, drilling out the ignition, putting in a push button start...the fact that my windows were down didn't help either.

BUT...all is good now.

Let the harrassing begin.

Pffft!

Pretty darn hard to give you the business after you've so fully confessed. Next time please be less self-deprecating so we can have some fun at your expense. It's the decent thing for you to do, really..

I've often been tempted to start an "OK, I'm a bonehead" thread where everyone confesses some of their less-than-stellar moments. I'm just afraid that I'll start off and nobody will join in, leaving me looking like a double dumb ***!

Talking Hahahaha!

Being able to laugh and call one self a boob makes for a great outlook on life!

My favorite quote? "There's no sense in having a bad day"

During my next bout of "Boobness" I'll be sure to leave room in my self depreciating comments for a good verbal forehead slap :icon_banan a:
