Any major surgery to install the PT Cruiser seats? They look great.

Always ran Jag engines in my various Jags. But my TR6 is lumped with a Ford 302 V8/5-speed.

Does that count?

Just about as close to a "Cobra" as you can get without being one. LOL!

Back in high school a friend had a Tiger with the early 260ci Ford. As most of you probably know, that was a small British sports car (smaller than a "cobra") with the early Windsor V8's. At that time ('64 or '65) it was an amazing little car that could get you into trouble if you forgot that little fact. By today's standards it would not be the scary roller skate it seemed back then.

I would love to ride in your TR6/Ford Doug. It certainly qualities as a lump in my book and is a perfect balance of car to engine. Do you drive it much?

I've only had it a few months. I've driven it more than enough, a few hundred miles, to know it's an absolute gas ......and potentially dangerous. The latter adds to the former. . I can't remember having so much fun on four wheels. It's very raw...and that's a lot of the appeal.

I've never even had it to WOT. Without some frame beefing-up I really don't want to. The car simply was not designed for this amount of power. That project, along with a Nissan diff, will be starting soon.

I've driven Tigers and AC Cobras as well. Certainly the same sensation although a stock Tiger isn't nearly as dramatic as either this TR6 or a Cobra.

Anything completely *Safe* will be about as exciting as a bowl of oatmeal.

I think we should use the term "Restomod" as upgrading the car with modern technology is what it is really about. It can be any engine swap with any brand, etc. with the goal of creating more performance by blending the new with the old.

I would agree, in principle, but it's hard to put the current vernacular to rest.

Well, with the base design going back to the early sixties, there's nothing in a Ford 302 that's particularly modern

I always thought "restomod" was simply a blend of restoration and modification. This as opposed to a restoration without modification. In practice I reckon the modification part typically includes modernization...but not necessarily.

Ahhhhh.....automotive semantics

New lumper checking in here. 6.0 LS with a 78mm turbo going into a very nice 1984 XJ6 that I rescued from wasting away in a barn. Hoping to have it on the road this summer.

Not new to Murican engines in foreign cars...my first swap ever about 10 years ago now was a 6.0 LS into a 2001 BMW 540i; that one really made the purists angry.

As the name says, I have a '76 XJ6C that is undergoing a full restoration with a brand new connect and cruise EROD LS3. Just to make it a little more fun it has the T56 6-Speed.

It took some cutting and a lot of pounding but the tranny is in! No they have to fab up a shifter that will be centered correctly.

Nice looking engine installation!
That body isn't quite Black, is it. Looks from here like sort of gun metal gray with flake.

When you get a minute, you might stop by the New Members section and post an official introduction. It's sort of required of new members.

Oh yes. I can see it now.
Mine was born Yellow too. I'm glad the Previous Owner thought BLACK was better, cuz that's the biggest reason she came to live with us.

They look SO much better wearing Dark colors.

LnrB,
Thanks for the compliment. The longer story of the MK2 is in that section. A lot of Gumption Traps get in my way - most if not all self induced. The XJ12L finally has A/C and stereo will be complete when new front door speakers are installed.
