ignition relay 1972 xj6
Help...does anyone know where it is located? Fire wall or ? I have to use a separate ground to shut down engine....Chevy V8 conversion. stroud09@aol.com

I did send for a manual for a 1972 xj6 from Johns cars. Hopefully that will help? I don't know what series it is, do you? I hear a click when grounding it with a separate wire from the distributor that I have jerry rigged. It does not come from that area? Even had a women listen to it and she confirms it comes from somewhere in the dashboard about center above the bell housing.

In a conversion, I'm not sure why an ignition relay is involved. Some detail as to the Id of the GM engine might be of assistance. A carb engine or a more sophisticated FI.
If a carb GM. Back track from the coil + post. to see where it gets the power. In the simplist installation, the ignition switch. A lead that is hot only in run or start.
A kill by ground is a weird way to do it!!!
