Instrument cluster stopped working
Hello all,
I just recently became the owner of a 1990 XJ6 and I have to say it's one of favorite cars I've ever owned. Pretty much everything works great but last night my battery died after I accidentally left the dome lights (dumb). I took it out, recharged it, and put it back in this morning. Now the instrument cluster isn't working (no speedo, tach, oil, temp, etc.) and it's displaying a strange code where it usually displays mileage. The car will still start and run strong but no readouts on the panel. Here's a pic of what's showing on the dash Picture 005 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
Any ideas?

Update
So, I fiddled with it a bit more. I disconnected the battery, popped out the number 6 fuse in the center fusebox, reconnected the battery, started the vehicle, popped the fuse back in and suddenly the instrument cluster lit up with all that crucial driving info. I still wonder if anyone has any insight into this?

Matt, you need to post into the XJ40 forum for such is your car, not a Series 1, 2, or 3. Most of us old-timers and assorted scoundrels, (and even experts too), post advice on the forums for the cars we know about.
Reason the forum has 1992 as the end year is that the Series 3 V12s carried on until then at a rate of about 40-50 a week, the sixes stopped in 1986.
However, you seem to have sorted out your problem, well done !
