instrument lights

The instrument lights (tach and speedo) on my 1988 xj12 vdp are dim... any cures ? Thanks.

it seems as though dials further to the right are brighter but I can't find anything anywhere that speaks to the issue... apparently it's a fibre optic light so it's not bulbs...
