Hi
I just acquired a 1980 Series 3 XJ6, the intake manifold gasket is leaking, can the manifold be removed without removing the cylinder head?

Its easier to get off while head still on car! I had head off and you get no leverage!!! Chased it all over my work bench! A deadblow hammer works wonders!!

I took it off on the bench. It was not too bad.
I strapped the head to the bench, and got two ratchet straps on the inlet manifold. Started pulling with the manifold straps.
Then I got my rubber mallet and started beating on the manifold. Applied more tension on the straps and went at it again.
Then it slowly busted loose. Once it was loose, I wiggled it off.
