I have an 1987 series 3 with chrome plated kent wheels. The spare has a flat aluminium finish. Was the chrome an option when new or was this done by previous owner/dealer?
All the ones i see are flat aluminum.

I believe there were early Kents that were chromed, I have seen pictures of Sir William Lyons next to a late Series 2 XJ with chromed Kent wheels.
Prior to the Kents there was the chromed Series 2 XJ wheel.

Not chromed by Jaguar. Common 'dealer option' back in the day
