Leaky tank switchover solenoid
Hi All,
just wondering if others have had leaks from the solenoid in the boot
and also if the pipes you connect the tank hoses into are meant to turn freely or be fixed?
I just installed new fuel hose from the tanks with prefilters,
I discovered the 1/2 inch ID hose they sent was more like 7/16 so was a bit tight to get on, lots of twisting and pushing,
but got a seapage coming from the right side of the valve now, and when I was putting the hose onto it the solenoid pipes turned in their settings,
am going to order a new one but would be good to know if anyone knows this?
and should I hold out and get some better hose that’s a proper half inch inside?
thanks a lot, Al

Its been too many years since I delved in there.
All my S2 cars 6 and 12 had weeping at that sucker. New ones were easy and cheap back then.
PROPER 1/2" fuel hose is the ONLY way to go, with new clamps.
Rotating spigots, yep, had that also.
Never tried to repair them, as I said, easy to get and cheap.

A lot of the fuel hose being sold today is metric and the parts store guy just picks the one that looks right. If it isn't printed on the outside of the hose I wouldn't trust it. American muscle cars were definitely ASE and not metric so you might try Jegs or Summit. A while back Doug posted that he used marine fuel hose in an attempt to prevent the gas smell in the boot. Also, I always use a lubricant when fitting rubber parts. Something that won’t contaminate the fuel or hurt the rubber. In other words, hygienically applied saliva (I spit on it before assembly).
