Default looking for cam cover gasket wisdom ....

I'm about to install the cam covers on my XJ6 S2 engine rebuild and I'm wondering what's everyone's experience with a leak-proof seal. Hylomar on both sides of the gasket? Just one side? Grease? No dressing? No gasket and some other sealant?

I used a very slight amount of permatex gasket sealant on the head and the cam cover itself. There is a brush inside the bottle that allows you the apply a very thin coat. This stuff basically holds the gasket in place as well. Thin coat on the head, apply gasket and d-plug, a little on cam cover and install. No leaks.

I'm with Ronbros.

I have not used gaskets there on the 6 or 12 for a very long time.

I use the Red Hi-Temp, but that is simply choice.
