Jose food for thought those stainless steel band clamps are also available at your local napa in the balkamp catalog. Bigger Napa's will have them in stock.

thank you ArmyJag,

you are not talking about stainless Hose clamps, but exhaust system clamps, right? All sorts of sizes?

Here's one for you:

Pres. Bush, The Pope, A Boy Scout, and Saddam Hussein are flying on AirForce 1 to a Peace Meeting with Arab leaders.

Suddenly one of the pilots comes out and says: Gentlemen, we just lost 2 engines, I'm afraid we'll have to ditch, there are 3 parachutes in the closet, one of you will have to go down with us...

Pres. Bush stands up and goes to the closet saying; Gentlemen, I am the Leader of the civilized world, the world needs me, besides, this is MY PLANE! as he puts on a parachute and jumps.

Saddam stands up and heads to the closet saying: "I am the Smartest Leader in the Arab World, and they need ME, as the Boy Scout says, BUT MR. SADDAM.... And Saddam says, shut up you stupid American kid, in my country we cut your head off for interrupting aLeader like me! YES SIR, the boy Scout says, as Saddam jumps out the plane.

The Pope calls the Boy Scout saying: Son, I'm old and tired, you go ahead and jump with the last parachute...

BUT MR. POPE, the Boy Scout interrupts again,

What it is son?complains the Pope.

BUT MR. POPE, THE SMARTEST LEADER IN THE ARAB WORLD JUST JUMPED OFF THE PLANE WITH MY BACKPACK ON, THERE ARE TWO PARACHUTES LEFT IN THE CLOSET....

Exactly exhaust sorry for the confusion on that. They run from 1 3/4 to if I recall correctly 5" sizes. Been using them on the Range Rover for years to hold the exhaust together

I keep trying to attach a pic, but I'm not doing something right... I click the 'add image', but then nothing happens.

Matt, thanks. the old Jags are the real Jags. The 3.8 liter engines spit fire, literally when hot-tuned. Mine is a 9:1 compression, but most were 8:1 compression. When the XJ came out in 1968, it came out with a 4.2 liter engine that had been sedated (so to speak), for quiet performance. That's why the XJ is so quiet. But the old Sedans they have more raw power.

Stylin coyote:
you need to click on POST REPLY first,(NOT on Fast Reply), then you click at the bottom of the typing box where it says UPLOAD FILE, you can also click on EMBED IMAGE IN POST if you want. Then a new box appears and you BROWSE for your file, you select your file by clicking on the file name, then you click on UPLOAD FILE, then you get a message that says FILE UPLOADED SUCCESFULLY. If the picture is too big it will not upload. You need to size the pics at 640 X 480 pixels.

Waiting for the Princess.

Jose

Thanks Jose,

This week it was not starting. A coil, an ignition module later, I finally found the ballast resistor was open. I fixed it with a wood screw. Anyone have an extra ballast? Or what would be a modern-day equivalent?

May not be easy to find an extra. Jag only sells 'em with the coil. And most guys throw the resistor over the hedge and run the white wire right to the "+" post on the coil

Cheers

Doug is experienced in this issue: eliminate the ballast resistor, and be happy. However, contrary to Doug, I would savethe resistoras a collector piece, instead of throwing it away.

TIP:if you wantmore lighting in youir ignition, install a 12 cylinder engine Coil instead.. Part Number DLB170.Let us know what you think.

Jose.

Yes on the DLB170 !

I've had good luck using this particular coil and so have some others.

Cheers

Doug,

What's the new wire routing, to eliminate the coil. (or wait, was that a link?)

ANyway, thanks for all the help. She's running good with an Accell coil and the original ballast, but I'd just as soon get rid of it.
