Default Should have a Series 1 - chrome is so hard

The early cars without the rubber coated bumpers are so much better looking.

Even better when seen driving down the highway. The Ser I-II-III Jag sedans combine a solid, chunky, planted-to-the-road appearance with gracefulness. One of my all time favorites.

Cheers

More as well. My dear departed wifey understood. It was her car. My assignment was chauffeur and maintenance tech.

Before, we went to the sales place to negotiate, I cautioned her on 'stone face" tactics.

I am/was good at it. My former profession called for it. Naaah. she flunked. Cost a bit, I am sure, but worth it.

Side bar. Some of the foregoing comments would get bounced on anther forum...
Why, I'll never understand....

I always have sheets if plywood under the vehicles just in case they spring a leak. Fireball has a small leak developing at the rear of the tranny pan, but is nearly due for a fluid change so will look at it then.

Back to the topic now. I find the XJ40 lost the classic lines.

I have to agree. Unless it has "The Hood Ornament" there's little to distinguish it from other sedans of the time.

However, the Xj6 Series I, II, III, Everyone who sees one knows Instantly and Instinctively, THAT is a Jaguar!

I reckon the attraction is definitely something intrinsic and unable to be explained in rational terms. Got my X300 on the basis that's it's the "modern" incarnation of Series III, but despite its all-round excellence even that didn't possess quite the same soul as the Series XJ's for me. Hence backing up 13 years to get the real thing. And in another 10 years they'll be worth a fortune!?(well that's the dream I had last night anyway...)
