My First Car!

My First Car!
Hello Everyone!
Five days ago I had the pleasure of buying not only my first jag, but my very first car (I'm 17). I am the proud owner of an 1987 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign! I've always loved Jaguars and I never could have imagined I would be able to buy one as my first car. I found out about the car at the local cruise nights, after taking a test drive I was sold! With the huge help from the owner we were able to complete the work necessary to certify. The car isn't perfect but after what it's been through it is in great condition. The previous owner saved this beauty from the wreckers because the previous owner to him didn't want to pay the large amount to rebuild the suspension. So far I've had so much fun with this car, it's not like any other car I've drove and I'm looking forward to the many more kilometres and adventures with this car.

Hello, Blaine,
Congratulations on 1) your first car, 2) choosing an Xj6, and 3) jumping in feet first doing a suspension overhaul. Having just done that, I Know how much work you put into it.
Your fun has only just begun, and this is only the first of Many adventures with your Jaguar. I wish you many years of such happy enjoyment.
Welcome to our playroom from ElinorB.

Welcome. One's first of anything in one's life is a milestone to be enjoyed.
Well, I guess some not so much. But, your car is...
My first car as yours was older than I was. it was 23 years old and I 16!!
But, far from the stately car you have. It didn't even run. Parents felt it safe
in that respect. Twofold. Keep me off the road fussing with getting it to run.
Wrong, I got it to run quite well. Mom anguished, Pop quietly proud!!!
Enjoy... Tons of very qualified help here. Needed as at times, they can be humbling...
But, as elegant as anything on the road, past and present. Beats the plentiful
Asian beetles by a ton...

That was a brand new car when I was in college and probably wouldn't even have been seen in my blue-collar neighborhood. But I love the story. While my first car was a late model, it was a wreck that I had to rebuild and got me started in a lifelong car hobby. Most teens wouldn't want anything that old, certainly not if it meant getting their hands dirty. I'm glad their are kids like you out there. Good luck with it.
