Welcome to the forum Sam,

Checking you've got to the right section for your model. Too many different models of Jaguar all called 'XJ6' - can be very confusing!

Is your 1988 XJ6 the Series III or the XJ40 shape?

Graham

but there's no 1985 XJ-8 ? only a 6 and a 12. Chances are you bought a XJ-40, also known as a Series 4 XJ-6, it has a 4.0 liter 6 cylinder engine, right ? The XJ-40 arrived in USA in 1987 to be sold as a 1988 model-year.
