I don't recall seeing a photo like this in any sales brochure. I've got to get my 86 toronado on the rode to do the heavy lifting.

the wood would be worth more than the Jag these days

Pro tip from a fellow sedan roof carrier. Don't brake suddenly (or if you must, go hard so it clears the bonnet)

At least get a rack for this kind of hauling. Its gonna wreck the roof. Racks are cheap and better.

Your roof rack comment reminded me that I have a couple of thick foam pads . Duh.

Decades ago, I had a 56 VW Beetle. My commute car t go from our home in San Fernando valley to my office at teh Mid wilshire area. The VW had a roof rack. Fastened with clamps into the drip rails. One morning as i was at abut 55 on the golden State Freeway, the roof rack departed. OH !@@33. I hope it hit no one!!!! i circled back to look for it. gone. never found it. Grat. No mayhem.

My jeep has a roof rack. Far mre sturdy I have loaded it woth some big stuff Way back when, we were ging back to el paso from el Centro. XMAs. I had a lot of stuff. too much for the trunk. I bught a package shelf for the trunk lid Staped a lot there. it went well. No surprises.

Yeah but, it was only conduit and it landed in the middle of the intersection with some making to the other side.

We were young and I was stupid/desperate with only a small car available.

Much better now. I am old and stupid, but have a truck.

I've hauled weed eaters and chainsaws in the E-type - I'm sure that wasn't anticipated either.

Excellent work!

I'll raise you on the irresponsible hauling...Corvette is since sold, but served well as the occasional work truck.

Needed to build shelves in basement. 40 2x4s and 4 sheets of 1/2" plywood later...
