Congratulations on the class win James.

All things considered the old XJ6 didn't do too bad against the XJR

34by151(James) 1.17.5 in the XJR and Dr Phill (Phill) 1.23.3 in th S1 XJ6.

Phill has thrown down a challenge for me at Euro Day now. Never going to beat my 1990 lap of 62 seconds in a 125cc Supercart but I have to try for a 1.23 lap now in Miss Fireball.

Thanks and yes the XJ6 went well

More power did not serve the lap times well considering I was doing 62-65 last time. Im changing the tune again for the euro day. Sub 60 is the goal but will be happy with a 62 again

I was not able to get the power down in the carousel, hungry and eastern loop. Computers kept getting the way cutting the ECU (gearbox protection)
Although drifting in hungry felt good, Im in need of new rear tyres as a result and new fronts from the ECU cuts

Cheers

As they say, Lakeside is a more grip, less power kind of track.
Last time out you were in my mirror every third or so lap, which would drop you right in the low 60's.
Hope to see that again next time out.

Default Jag club day at Lakeside

Congratulations on the class win James, well done. As to my out come all I can say is I'm impressed, your turn next Clarke. 1:23 Lap time at an average of 63mph i'snt the easiest task in a 2 1/2 tone road car at a circuit like Lakeside.
Will be fun to watch.

1:23 is much better than I would have expected and if you compare the cars of the same age much better again

Well Done

Hey Phill, if Clark manages to better your time you can blame the new tyres!!!!

Elinor, it was part of the 2016 National Jaguar Rally.
The other marques were there by invitation.

I'm impressed too Phill, I'm thinking my laps are going to be around the 1.30 mark.

Clarke, you will go alright, remember its your car and you know it better than I do. just trust it and it will amaze you as it did me. James, I think the new tyres are booked for after the meet unless Clarke is keeping secrets from me.
GIVE IT SOME JANDAL

That would be the fireproof Nomex Jandal specially built for hot racing conditions?

Had a look at the results. Surnames Leak and Greasley at a British car track day. You cant make this stuff up.

Looks like you had a great day. The new motor should be nicely bedded in now :-)

I finally got your race number sorted Phill, just a week late.
You know what that means, you gotta go out on the track again.

Always happy to get behind the wheel Clarke, just want to see you give it a crack first. You will be impressed what the old girl can do. Number looks good. Does it make it go faster.

Not sure if it goes faster but everyone will expect you do

Now if you do all the mods in Grand Torino that's another thing
Check the clip @ 1 min 30

But seriously best thing to do is shed as much weight from the car as you can.
A good place to start is empty the boot of the spares and tools, keep the fuel load as low as you can get away with.
The less HP you have the more effect removing weight will have

With 184hp and 2100kg your power to weight goes up a lot just getting it down to 2000kg. You will save 50kg just with a half full tank, probably another 50 with the spare and jack removed.

Cheers

Default Competitive, maybe just a little.

While the Dr is away the the owner will play.

Looking for a way to squeeze the extra couple of mph out of the old girl I started digging around. There was a bit of slack in the throttle cable when not extended and still a few degrees of movement left in the throttle rod when peddle was flat to the floor.

So by removing the cable bracket and making it's mounting holes into slots it has given about 3-4mm more adjustment taking the slack out of the cable, now being able to use the full travel of the peddle. Also lost 1/2 of the freeplay in the peddle from idle.

So now the throttle rod is turning further, but not quite making it to the stop. This should equate to more acceleration therefore higher top speed down the straight if my theory is right.

After playing around here I thought I would revisit setting the mixtures and idle balance. So after a bit of adjusting all sounds good and idle is spot on 650 rpm in park and just a gnats dick under 600 rpm in drive.
