Seat Question SIII
Hi -- I have a problem with my drivers seat on my SIII Soveriegn.
The backrest does not lock in place firmly and will slip back with any load on it. I took the cushion out and then the seat out and it seemed the serrated cam that is actuated by the seat adjustment lever was not locking into place and going past its stop --- and so lifting the cam partially and alowing it to slip.
I used a drift to tap the securing tab back into place and stop the cam lifting again, and it worked for a while but now I am looking for a more permanent fix.
Has anyone had this problem before --- and come up with a fix.

I now have this exact same problem on my '84 XJ6. I heard sort of a "pop" as I was adjusting myself (I could stand to lose a few pounds, but it's not THAT bad) and now it won't hold under load, exactly as the post above describes. I haven't done the temporary fix described above, so wondering if there's a simple fix? It seems like something just popped out of place.
