Default starting problem on my 86 xj6 S3

Hi my name is josh i recently purchased a 1986 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas. The previous owner told me he parked it in 2007-2008 his ex-wife lost the keys, he said it needed a starter relay. i got the ignition re keyed, i put in a new battery and a new starter relay im not sure how all the wires hook up to the starter relay i found a diagram of how it is supposed to be hooked up and tried that but there was wires still left over and it didnt turn over with the key, i bypassed the starter and the starter works fine i hooked up the positive wire that goes into the relay to the starter wire and again turns over. im pretty sure the starter relay is good if so how do i hook it up correctly?? there is two white and yellow wires(one comes from diode pack), one solid orange or red wire(positive from battery), a red and white wire(starter), a green and black wire, and a blue an white wire. the starter relay has stamped on it, w1, w2, c1, c2, and c4. can somone please help me hook this up correctly??

@josh

Welcome. Do go over to the new members section and introduce yourself there. That way the board moderators will see you.

Anyway, on to your actual problem. If you go to the top of this forum into the stickys there is a "how to" thread that has the circuit diagrams in it. I will give you the link to what you are looking for directly to get you started
