Returning from three week trip my 96 VDP ;was hard to start but finally ran fine for 30 minutes to charge battery. Next day it wouldn't start and couldn't hear fuel pump
so replaced. No go and pump wouldn't come on. Traced to no power to pump. Checked fuses then checked fuel relay. It activated but no power to pump side. Replaced relay
and socket. Still no power through relay. Tested relay, it was fine. Checked voltages on coil and found 12 v on both sides of relay coil - doesn't seem right. Shouldn't one side be
ground? Car still didn't go. Checked emergency inertia switch and reset. Jumped relay to energize pump and check gas going to engine. Now it seems there's no spark.
Totally confounded about voltages on fuel relay coil and why now no spark? Anyone have any idea what I'm missing here.?
Been a great car. Got it with 56k miles and drove it from Florida to California. No problems for the last 60k miles except for AC that i don't seem to find someone to fix but otherwise
all great for five years. Ideas or help much appreciated.

You are asking the wrong part of this forum. This section is for the XJ6/12 series 1,2,and 3 which basically covered 6-cylinder cars up to around 1987 and some V12s to 1992 (I think.)
Go to the section with X300 and ask this question. There is a lot of expertise in that group.
Cheers
