Default T bar gear shift handle

I am thinking about making wood handles for the T bar shifters as I have had a couple of enquiries. Howevr I do not know the shape or thread size. Can anyone help me?

Thread on mine is 1/4x20.
I would guess it's a stud as it threads into both halves and the T-bar.
I'll post a photo for you tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply Elinor, may I be a real nuisance and

ask if you would provide the 3 missing dimensions on the sketch so I can make pair?

You could also just buy this and copy it in wood...

There are quite a few, including at least one in wood on eBay...

those used to be made in the 1990's in lacquered burled wood matching the dash wood color. I have one in my 1984 XJ-6.

Most of the threads on these cars are UNF, not BSW.

May I confirm the length of the stud is 0.623". That seems a bit too long as the centre gear stick part/boss would be 1.246" wide

Stud exposed beyond handle.

Total length of exposed stud.

I would be ecstatic if you could make me one of a jade like material. Acrylic or actual stone would be exquisite.

Ahh, I see now. Thank you Elenor, I was assuming that both sides of the knob had the stud, but now your photos explain it all. So I can now go ahead and and cut some wood.

Ah, Yes. The old, 'Picture vs 1000 words' thing.
The other half of the handle has a captive nut, but you probably already figured that out.
I'm glad I could help.

I cannot turn stone. Jade acrylic would be doable if I have the material. Does the jade have a "grain" in it or just solid colour?
I have commenced the wood ones.

That would be great except that it is only19mm wide and the knob is 22mm.diameter, So too small.

I forgot that I have green wood stain in my possession. How much for naked wood handle? Here’s a pic of a table I recently refinished.

That table looks great, I am just in the process of making a test set to see how long they take (the main factor in the price). When I finish them, I will post an ad in the Market Place forum.
