Default Throttle Switch Wiring

My wiring harness is missing the connector to the throttle switch that is mounted near the throttle body. There are two wires with bare ends, yellow w/red (maybe pink) and yellow w/ white (yw). The wiring diagram shows these two wires connect to the throttle switch, but I do not know which of the three blades on the switch they connect to. Is the third blade not used on some vehicles? I would like to connect these temporarily until I can find a new wiring harness.

Is this a Ser III XJ6 4.2, USA specification?

As I recall the purpose of the throttle switch in that application was soley full throttle enrichment so use a meter or test light to determine which two of the three pins have continuity at wide open throttle

Cheers

I think you should visit the Captains website and download the electronic section for your car. For example the PDF manual for a series III is about 4megs or so. There is a wealth of info here for you to use. Click HERE for the download link.

Thanks Doug. It is a Ser III XJ6 4.2, USA spec. I can't believe I forgot to put that, bad forum manners, sorry. If that is all the sensor does, then it is easy enough. I thought maybe it did more than that given the size, I guess I am more accustomed to today's mini electronics. By the way, I already found the very useful Captains elec guide.

There are two or three variations on how the switch is used depending on the spec of the car. The manuals are not very clear on the subject.

On my UK version, there was a tiny little switch on the throttle housing that had to be set with the throttle closed. It was for switching off the injectors until revs had dropped to a certain level when one lifted off the throttle. Purpose was to save fuel on the over-run. What happened on US cars I don't know but I would think something similar. Bear in mind the electronics on these cars are all analogue, so it wont be anything complex.
