I'm currently restoring and modifying a -74 series 2 (SWB) where I'm installing the engine and front suspension (and some other stuff) from a -95 XJR6. One step is to restore the seats, but first I must be sure which trim color I have. So I'm uploading some photos and hoping some one can tell me what I have here.
I greatly appreciate any help!
My XJ6 Series I and Series II definitely didn't have a Jaguar Cars plate with paint and trim codes. I don't recall the current style of three letter trim codes being used before the 1980's and before that your seat colour was just called Dark Blue.
Have a look at Furniture Clinic site (despite the name they also do vehicle leather repair kits):
looks like Dark Blue or Black. Cut a piece from a hidden area under the rear seat Back, take it to a paint store, tell them to match it for use on leather and vinyl. Should be a Matte finish.
In my experience, using a paint Code rarely matches what is already there. It is best to match the color that is on the trim.

They used to offer a colour dye matching service using a small sample from the customer's original trim.

So that's why I haven't found a plate!
I didn't know that they had different names on the trim color after the 80's, that's good to know because it almost only leaves one color it could possibly be, Dark Blue.
And Furniture Clinic looks really interesting, I've been searching for something like that. Great tip!
Thank you so much!

Yeah I think Dark Blue, the images never really show the true colors .
Did the seats have a matte finish when new? I personally prefer the matte finish over the stiff and glossy look they have now...
