which tyre sizes for 1985 Xj6?
I have always had good success with Michelin but, as posted here, they no longer carry 215/70-15. So I am shopping for new tires. Looking for a brand with some heritage and a reputation for quality. Since I never drive my Jaguar in the rain (or heavens forbid, snow) those aspects are not important to me. Since I drive at a rather sedate speed as befitting a gentleman of my age I am not that interested in dry traction. A quiet, comfortable ride are the most important quality I’m looking for. Has anyone tried Firestone All Season radials? Any other suggestions available in the US?

You given us a picture of a tire but not the size! Tell us what size you are contemplating and we can tell you if it'll fit.
If 205/70x15 or 215/70x15 the answer is "yes"

Your picture looks very much like the Tiger Paws I am running on my S3 with stock alloy wheels. 215/60R-15, I wanted a small diameter tire for engine speed vs road speed purposes. I'm happy with these.

The wheels have 6" wide rims.
A 225 tire is borderline too wide for a 6" rim.
Nothing terrible will happen. It's just that the sidewalls will be pinched a bit. In terms of steering and cornering you won't be getting the best out of the tire. But if you're a gentle driver you'll never notice.
