Default What does it do?

Hi all

So today I set about changing A6's spark plug...

Now, there's a little sensor of sorts that partially obstructs the spark plug (infact just about every plug has something obstructing it) the little sensor I accidentally disturbed has a plastic cap and one wire connector coming out of it. Inside there is a little spring (can you see where this is going) which, yes indeed, fell out...

Now... What does this little sensor do? How important is the spring? Can I replace the spring or does it have to be a certain strength? Is this little "sensor" still available?

Thanks in advance

Doug, I just found it, (in the manual of all places ) it's the oil pressure sensor. I'm pretty sure I can find a spring that will work. Thanks for the reply!

Cheers
