Default Whoosh and no heat

Hi all; 1986 June built S3 Sovereign. No heat from the heater although on max heat setting for the dial; any thoughts?
The whoosh when you open the tank lid, is it truly the best way to fix it is drilling the little plastic gadget near the charcoal canister?
Thanks.

Default no heat

The x350 can suffer from a failure of the heater control module.

It's basically a transistor, thermal fuse, and a big aluminium heat exchanger which sticks into the heater duct.
When I say big I mean big in relation to a transistor!

For repair details search jaguar forum uk about 2.5 years ago.
