Default Window regulator

Hey y'all, It's been a while since I posted and have since moved on from the '07 XJ8 to an '85 XJ6. I picked up the car from the original owner. It had been sitting in his garage and not driven much. Long story short, overall it's in pretty decent shape but I am going over it when time and $ permits.

I knew the windows would need some work as they didn't roll down, (or were sparatic) I cleaned the switches and all went well. Windows came back to life.

Well, last night I went to roll up the drivers side and just before halfway up I heard a little thump type sound and the window stopped. I rolled it down and tried again and now it's off track.

I pulled the door panel and can see it is off. I can't however get access to the front of the track ( by the power mirror wires) I'd like to check the condition of the regulator/track and to put some graphite powder in the track to help free it up.

Any info on how to get to it would be great. I can't figure out how to get past the outer metal layer between the door panel and the window itself.

Thanks!

KT

attached are two Factory Service Manual pdf files. You can click on the file names to open or download them online.

Electrical shows the procedure for the window motor on page 11.

the Body manual shows how to remove door panels, etc.

Thank you Jose, looking at the body PDF it looks like I remove that squarish/metal door that is right by the door speaker? Will that give me access to the front part of the window? I essentially want/need to make sure I can get the window back in the track or on the regulator. as it sits now it'll go up halfway and pop out.

you welcome, in my car I've never done the repair you are doing, so I cannot be sure, but if you follow the steps in the removal procedure, it will get you where you need.
