Many thanks, yes I looked around, seems the Series 3 is different from the rest.

I agree on the bad design, it seems filling it to the brim with sealant is the best option as Alyn mentioned.

We have serviced some 20 of the seriesIII cars. After filling the void with sealer there have been no paint issues.
