I would recommend fitting a new capacitor there. The taped wires are the two wires across which it is fitted.

New injector wiring harnesses are available from Autosparks but they are VERY expensive.

By the way, are you based in Accra? I was working in Ghana all through 2018 and loved it there. We started in Tamale and later were in Kintampo, Bimbila and Atebubu. Such friendly people everywhere.
Andy, yes am based in Accra but from Techiman, thanks for complement about Ghanaians, we are loving and peaceful people and very good towards strangers.

Which project were you working on?

Tell me can I get the capacitor from general electrical shop or from auto electrical shop?

I also want to change air flow meter harness which might come with the capacitor.

I was working with GNPC on a regional seismic survey to establish the possibility of an oil bearing structure in the Voltaian Basin

For the capacitor, you need a store that sells individual electronic components - usually aimed at hobbyist circuit builders. You probably won’t find capacitors at auto parts or electrical parts retailers

When I was in Accra I came across this old MG Midget, but thought it too far gone to save now:

It is on Buade Road, area near the port by Tema

I have done some major car restorations in the past but this one looked too far gone even for my optimistic approach!

Take a look, you may think otherwise. It is parked right outside a colleague’s house and she could probably make contact with the owner

The pins on the AFM connector are numbered 27, 7, 8, 9, 6, 36, 39 as you look from rear of car towards the front. (Pin numbers match those on the ECU).

The capacitor should be connected positive + to pin 8 (pink/green wire) and negative - to pin 6 (pink/yellow wire).

The capacitor will have the - pin marked on the case.

Dear Andy, I am very grateful for your postings and solution to the problem of rough running whilst cold.
I too had been trying to overcoming the problem and replaced spark plugs, HT leads, distributor cap, rotor arm, fuel filter, air filter, water temp sensor, and also had it kypton tuned. Then I saw that you had very similar symptoms and fitting a capacitor to the wiring of the AFM provided a cure. I decided to use a dremmell cutting disc and make two gaps just above where the cable connects to the metal conductor. I then insulated the two legs of the capacitor and soldered it directly to the tops of the conductors. Used a nylon cable tie to secure the cap to the cableform and finished off by applying black silicon over the exposed soldering. I have attached two images, I hope this method might assist members who also have to carry out this lovely modification.
Very best wishes, Danny.

Two cuts with dremmell per connection, insulated the capacitors legs, then secured to cables with nylon tie.

Black silicon applied before replacing rubber cover.
