xj6 vanden plas 1987

I am in the process of buying above mention car. Transmission quit working. I am very mechanically minded person. I have done many minor and major car repair but have not swap a transmission. I can get the used tranission very cheap. How difficult it is to change the transmission on this car? Please give some tips and advisces on this issue. I will appreciate this. Please!!!!!!!!!!

Tranny issue Heh not even hard

Okies for starters, since your Borg warner is dead in the water why go back to another? GEt a tranny that has over drive, plenty of easy install conversion kits to replace that standred 3 speed. And they are cheaper. Even an old 700r4 would be great and improve gas mileage

Atleast I found some body who can help me. I do not know what 700r4 transmission is. But I will not bother you for this. I will found out on the forum about it. I learned from the forum that chevy caprice transmission can be put. I have access to pick and pull junk yard place. I can pull old transmission for 100 dollars - any car. Now about the conversion kit. What conversion kit includes? What componants I need to convert?, torque converter? Drive shaft coupling? Any linkages or whole engine? Is it possible to keep the Jaguar engine? I looked at the transmission and I can see lot of space around the transmission bell housing. How difficult is to open those bell housing bolts, Any special tool is needed? Once again, Mr. James, I will appreciate your help.
