Default 1989 XJS radio code AM/FM Cassette

Just turned on my original radio. Everything lights up but I see the word "code". I am assuming that it is asking for a code to turn it on. I have no idea. How do I find the code or how do I establish a new code?

Check to see if someone has written the code on the radio itself with a marker pen, I've found that more than a few times when I've had them out.
Have you looked through any paperwork you may have?
Another place is on the back or underside of the ashtray.

If no luck, there are programs you can download that will read the radio code for you or clear it altogether.

Is that the type of radio that has solder pads under the sticker? If so, take a look here for more of radio codes and how you can change the code. See towards the bottom of the thread and the second page.

Default Radio fixed

Thanks for all of the help and suggestions. I found the original code. It was buried in other documentation that I had from the previous owner. Punched in the code and like magic, radio works!
