4.0 sport front springs to V12?
Firstly I am in Japan and I have to source most of the parts from abroad.
The 4.0 sport front springs are listed cheaply on Japanese internet auction, and I want to know if this works on my V12 XJS.
I want to lower my car a bit, but it is really expensive to buy such parts from abroad, so if this works I want to go for it.
Any help would be appreciated.

To answer you question in a helpful way: I don't know. But I strongly suspect that the spring strength will be different because the V12 is much heavier. Not sure how long these will last.
But, an easier way or two to lower the front end:
1. Remove the nylon packing rings generally located on the end (usually top) of the springs. There are usually two or three or more of these installed. I have done this on my car.
2. If this is still not enough, you can do what many do who race their XJS: insert spacers of various thicknesses (determined by how low you want to go) BETWEEN the spring pan and the lower A-arm. BE SURE TO USE LONGER SCREWS of sufficient strength. This can be done without removing the springs. But it will almost always require the use of longer screws.
I have seen others remove their springs and then grind/cut the coils. NOT recommended, as this changes the spring rate and can also mess up how the springs seat when installed.

Actually I don't like the way of cutting the springs either, and don't like the spacer idea... for I can't get strong unf bolts anywhere at all in Japan.
I understand the heavy weight of V12 engine, but why I still ask is that sport springs must be sufficiently stiffer than the normal 4.0 springs, and it might be stiff enough to support the weight of the V12.
I would be so grateful if anyone who owned sport springs and saw this thread could measure the spring wire thickness for me... Then I can calculate the approx stiffness.
