My XJS horns have never worked since I got the car early this year. I've spent most of the time straightening out minor mechanical issues and am finally tackling why the horn doesn't work. My official Jaguar manual wiring diagram says the 4 different wire colors at the horn relay terminals should be as follows:
#85 Purple w/Black stripe (PB)
#86 LG (Light Green)
#87 Purple w/Yellow stripe) (PY)
#30 Brown (N)

Yet my car's factory (In the black woven loom) wiring has:
#85 Black
#86 Green w/Brown stripe
#87 Yellow w/Brown stripe
#30 Yellow w/Black Stripe
Can anyone on here shed any light as to why the coloring differences? I checked that my "88 XJS VIN shows it was manufactured on 6/'87. So I then checked the wiring colors for '87 as well as '89 and it still shows the same colors as in the manual but not what I have in my car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...............Mike.
