Default 88 xjs led headlights

So I live out in the country and definitely do not want to hit a deer with my baby, so spent the money and got new headlights with interchangeable bulbs. Bought the led’s that were supposedly for the new housings. Let’s just say less than impressed is a huge understatement. I don’t know if they are crappy bulbs (no manufacturer information at all), or if the power just isn’t enough but the dim street lights are brighter with high beams on (all 4 headlights on). I go to work well before sunup so this is a big problem. Is there maybe something I need to add between bulb and main wire to boost the power?

Banes333,

As LEDs typically draw far less current than traditional bulbs, I suspect it's not a shortcoming in your wiring or power. It's far more likely to be about the bulbs themselves. Have you got some pics you can post of the bulbs?

My guess, and that's all it is, is that the configuration of the bulb itself isn't compatible with design the headlight reflector and/or lens. That is, the light from the bulb itself isn't being thrown properly.

Cheers

Doug is absolutely correct. LED bulbs in housings designed for halogen bulbs rarely work well.

If you want LED that works well you need to look into something like this.
