Default 89 xjs stereo wiring

Hi all,

After extensive searchs of various forums and websites I still haven't found the correct wiring color codes. The stereo is Eurovox MCC 2461A. Photos of wires below. Anyone know where I can find out what goes where without having to pull the car apart?

Default Have you looked at this???

That looks like what you need, no??

Your wiring there has a yellow/black which puts you in the post-1988 column I would think.....

Yep found that one. It's close but my wires don't have green/black or white/black.

I might have to assume they are replaced with another color and see what happens.

Are you attempting to replace the Eurovox with another head unit?

Yes. I've got a pioneer unit to go in.

OK thats what I suspected.

To identify each speaker use a DMM on Ohms or 1.5v battery if you don't have a DMM to identify each speaker. Speakers should read 2-4ohms or the battery across a speaker will cause it to move. Don't leave the battery on too long.

My guess on the colours would be. But measure and make sure.

Yellow - 12V constant power
Red - Switched power
Orange - illumination.

The coloured wires with black traces will be speaker wires. Make sure you get the polarity correct for ALL of them otherwise you will have speakers out of phase. DO NOT common ANY of the speaker wires or you WILL damage the output of the stereo.

Easy to ID speaker wires with a volt and a half battery. Hold one wire on negative and the other scratch across positive. You will hear static on the speaker . To phase the speaker just hold the wires on the terminals and the speaker will either go in or out. out is positive , in is negative. As they say in Blokeland: Bob's your uncle!
The four outer wires on each end are the jaguar speaker wires
