93 xjs 4.0 turns, runs for a sec, dies
I posted "on the side of road" broke down message below. Anyway, I left the car and it will not run. tow tomorrow.
Symtoms:
ran great fro 70 miles. sat for 2 hours. then started and stalled. then just turned but barely ran. then stalled. now it just turns. NO go when I left. When I gave it gas it stalled?
Cranking with gas down did not help. pumping gas just made it sputter.
I just purchsed the car. it has 68 k. and it is a 5 speed. It is clean. and it ran great. I loved it.
Yesterday was the first time I ran the car in the rain. perfectly sunny today though. again ran fine for 70 miles.
Ideas:
1 Fuel pump?
2. Fuel Pump relay?
3. Bad gas. probaly not, but it seemed like that is what is sounded like.
4. Some sort on Crank shaft sensor
5) fuel filter
6 some other type of fuse
7 I think it is getting a spark b/c it ran for a bit.
8 Distributor coil.
Other ideas?
What should I check first after I get the car towed back to Charlotte NC.
Anybody have a recomendation for a Mechanic in Charlotte NC?
sorry for the long message. THis board is very helpful.
