There's still some deals out there around here in Texas, they only value American Muscle around here for some reason lol.
I've always been a muscle car fan and still work on them all the time.
A long time ago I owned muscle cars. I left the hobby for a few years and then found I couldn't afford to get back in ! That's what brought me to MGs and then Jags. Cool cars, interesting, and could be bought for relative peanuts.

I've always wanted to get myself a MG or GT6 Triumph.

That's the inevitability for most of us enthusiasts, isn't it Doug? We all buy interesting cars after they've depreciated a lot and have become cheap and we think we're buying at the bottom of the curve. After we've bought them, they frustratingly depreciate more so we just hang on to them. Eventually, we realise they'll never appreciate and it's not worth investing any more money in to them. Se we sell them for peanuts. And then in the next couple of years, they inexorably start to rocket in price and we kick ourselves as we've missed the boat!
So we look around for the next interesting thing and do exactly the same!
With the inevitable growth in the development and sales of electric cars, I reckon you won't be able to give away big V8s in this country soon. So my supercharged Range Rover is already probably worth nothing! And yet the moment I sell it, they'll suddenly become collectors items!
But the engine sound just makes everything worth it!
Go and buy a V8 supercharged Jaguar or Land Rover product! Or a supercharged V8 Merc with that "dirty" engine sound. The end of an era!
I have a friend that is having a hard time finding one. His budget is <$15k any color but white. Do yall have any recommendations on where to search. Craigslist, FB, OfferUp, Ebay are the usual places for me/

All depends on what flavour of 302 is there. A friend of mine has a 1981 Lincoln Mark VI with a 302 and it originally had a pavement ripping 129hp. Forward progress is shall we say stately and unhurried. 0-60? Yes, eventually.

This is from an '89 Mustang GT 5.0, rated at 225 HP SAE net in original fuel injected form. It has been rebuilt and now carbureted; I don't know the rebuild specs. Whatever the actual horsepower is, the acceleration is impressive with the 5-speed box and 3.70 differential. I have not fully wrung it out. My butt-o-meter suggests a 0-60 time of less than 6.0 seconds, easily. I know that's "ho-hum" by modern standards but it still feels very fast to me!
As a practical matter the I6 is better in every way. More fuel efficient, nimble, easier to service, almost the same performance up to 80 MPH. Better engine sounds and far better drivability because of the more modern transmission and all at lower purchase price.
No one could say it any better than that! When I got mine, a friend decided he had to have one, too... but he insisted on a V12, even though I tried to explain what you said as best I could. All the pros you mention outweighed the cons for me... I intended to actually drive it, and I do.
While there's nothing precisely "wrong" with his, there's a lot that isn't quite "right"... not the same handling, performance, or silky smooth shifts at gear changes. You might almost forget she's a tourer and not a sports car. And maybe the most surprising (at least to me): the engine is barely working at highway speeds. Which probably explains the 90k+ miles on her, as trouble-free as one could ask for.
I got mine before the markets started rising. At today's prices, I could at least double (and maybe triple) my money on it... but I can't bring myself to do it. If that doesn't tell you something, I don't know what will. At least drive one of each, and then decide.
